I’ve lived in the city of San Antonio for over 4 years, and it still amazes me how there is so much I’ve yet to see. Enter the San Antonio Botanical Garden. I’ve been to the grounds two years in a row for an annual Alfred Hitchcock movie screening, but this past Sunday was my first time exploring the garden. It was such a great experience! I was in awe and confused why I hadn’t visited sooner.
My boyfriend and I headed down the San Antonio Botanical Garden walking trail, stopping by and seeing the different trees and plants on the way and first found ourselves at small cottages. Each cottage had a different type of front yards. My favorite was the pink cottage with the Spanish themed garden.
We continued on the trail and found ourselves at the Lucille Halsell Conservatory, which consisted of five glass dome type structures. Each structure had different types of plants from the deserts, tropical areas and more. The area also had some eye catching, geometric sculptures sprinkled around a small pond.
As we continued along the trail, we almost made the mistake of thinking we saw it all. We then came across an area that was cultivated to look like the East Texas Pineywoods. The area was like heaven! Pineywood trees surrounded a lake and it felt like you were transported to beautiful East Texas. It was probably the area we stayed the longest at, because it was so peaceful. I definitely recommend visiting it. It honestly won me over. I would visit the San Antonio Botanical Garden over and over just for the East Texas area.
If you haven’t been to the San Antonio Botanical Garden, I suggest you make a trip soon. It’s perfect for a fall visit!
If there’s one thing that hasn’t changed in my wardrobe as I get older, it would be torn denim. You really can’t go wrong with torn denim! Dress it up or dress it down, you can add torn denim to almost any outfit.
In my featured look, I went for casual vibes for my Saturday look, so I sort of went crazy with the torn denim. I started off with my Zara skinny jeans I picked up in-store a few years ago. I combined my jeans with a dark short sleeve tee, which is actually my Kacey Musgraves happy & sad smiley concert tee. I needed layers on this chilly day, so I went with a red and black plaid shirt, which complimented my dark denim.
Now the risky choice was my Zara torn jean denim jacket, because of it’s lighter denim and torn look. However, I think the contrast was needed to balance out my mostly dark tone look. To help the balance, I finished off the look with my Yeezy 700 waverunners. The grey tones were a needed compliment to the look, plus the sneakers gave the look the casual vibes I was wanting.
What do you think about my causal Saturday look? What are your favorite pieces or looks during the weekend?
Can we say obsessed? I am honestly obsessed with my featured look! The mastermind behind my look is none other than my boyfriend. It was a Saturday afternoon. We had a few looks to shoot and out of nowhere the “Don’t Tell Me” music video by Madonna and the outfit idea came to him. I was pretty much hesitant at first. Mostly because his Madonna obsession has gotten to me, but I digress. I decided to go with it, and I can honestly say that it’s one of my favorite looks ever.
Breaking down the outfit: the light blue denim shirt from DKNY was the first item picked. Next were the blue skinny jeans from H&M. I think at first, we were both hesitant about the fit, but I haven’t really been wearing denim for a hot minute and all I used to wear was skinny jeans. I would die before purchasing a boot or straight cut jean. Anyway, the pants ended up fitting the look perfectly. Next were my Calvin Klein silver boots, which I purchased over a year ago. I’ve haven’t worn them out, but I purchased them after finding out Raf Simons was leaving Calvin Klein. His aesthetic was amazing, and I needed a piece of it! To finish of the look, we went with a leather jacket I picked up from Zara a few years back and a navy hat from Topman.
I love this look, and with fall here, I will definitely rocking this look on a night out! What looks are you curious to try?
When fall arrives, I bring out the plaid! It’s obviously nothing groundbreaking, but plaid definitely changes up my look. Since the summer months tend to consist of short shorts and tees. A new style choice over the summer was concert tees. I found myself going to many concerts in 2018, and they became a go-to piece to use in the summer. With some styling help from my boyfriend, it looks like concert tees will be part of my fall wardrobe as well!
In this featured look, a J. Crew plaid shirt from the thrift shop meets a Charli XCX tour tee! I wasn’t sure about the combination at first, but they definitely go together in the picture. I went with some distressed skinny jeans from Urban Outfitters to complement my black tee. To help balance, I went with my Yeezy 700 Mauve sneakers, which complemented my plaid shirt. The neon green accents in the sneakers also matched my Charli tee. Finally, to give my outfit that drip (LOL), I added an Adidas belt bag I got at PacSun on clearance for only $8. Definitely a steal! The iridescent of the bag gave my outfit a much needed pop, while also complementing the greens in my outfit.
I can see myself making the plaid/concert tee combination a staple for fall. Has this been a staple in your wardrobe or is this something you might try for fall?
Have you ever heard the saying, “fall is when I’ll starting dressing nice?” Well that saying couldn’t be truer for me. The temperatures have lowered just a little, and I officially don’t know how to act. I’m layering, wearing jeans and accessories when I can. I find easier to accessorize and layer, because I’m not sweating buckets.
In this weekend look, I added an American Eagle jean jacket I purchased a few years ago, to my look. Giving me a sort of Canadian tuxedo look, minus the jean shirt. I went with a short sleeve striped button up from Forever 21 tucked into my Urban Outfitters dad jeans. I finished my look with my Yeezy 700 V2 Static shoes and a black belt.
The look definitely gives me a fall dad chic look! What types of looks will you be rocking for fall? More layering?
When the fall weather starts to hit, I start to feel myself and make an effort with my work outfits. Ok, I wouldn’t say this featured look is the most effort I’ve put in an outfit, but the simple add of a jacket can definitely make an outfit pop.
My Forever 21 tan jacket plus my Yeezy 700 Analog sneakers, khakis and button up shirt make up my dad chic look!
This past Monday, Yeezy and Adidas dropped the latest Yeezy Boost 700 V1 colorway called “Magnet.” So many thoughts came to mind when this colorway was announced back in July. One of those thoughts was that I was more than likely going to pass on it for the teal blue colorway. However, days ahead of its release, it was announced that it would be a Yeezy Supply exclusive. Basically, the shoe was going to be available on their website and only in the U.S. that exclusivity attracted me more to the shoe. So I obviously ended up buying them.
They are definitely a nice pair of shoes. They have the most combination of colors since the Waverunner, which is a plus. The silhouette is the same as the other 700 V1s. The differences between this colorway and the rest is they used a nylon material for the base of the shoe, while all six previous colorway a had a mesh material base. Also, the shoe has less 3m than the other colorways, but that isn’t really a minus for me.
I picked outfit pieces to compliment my Yeezy Boost 700 Magnet sneakers. I paired my Magnets with long grey socks and some orange neon shorts from Urban Outfitters, which matched the orange accents on the sole of the sneakers. I finished the look with a white vintage T-shirt from DKNY, purchased from a local thrift store.
I love a good dad sneakers and these are a definite cop. What are your thoughts on the Yeezy Boost 700 Magnet?
