Holiday in Houston

Standard

Houston_Fashion_3The holidays are done, and a new year is almost upon us! I hope everyone had a great time with the ones you love. If you’re still on break, lucky you! For my holiday break, I headed to Houston to spend time with my mom and her boyfriend. Over the last year I’ve had more trips to Houston than I ever have, and I’m really falling in love with the city. It’s huge, ethnically diverse and there always seems to be something going on. Also, it doesn’t hurt that it’s the home of The Galleria!

Houston_FashionHouston_skyscrapersOn the day before Christmas, we headed out on the town, so I could see some sites on my short trip. We made a stop downtown at a park in front of city hall. The park was perfectly situated between city hall and a few skyscrapers. I find the Houston skyline to breathtaking, so I took a couple of photos.

Houston_Fashion_2On my outing at the park, I took some photos in front of the Reliant Energy Christmas tree and the water fountain in front of city hall. Since, it wasn’t super cold during the day, I stuck to wearing my new distressed black jean jacket from Forever 21. My denim jacket paired along with my yellow plaid shirt also from Forever 21 kept me warm enough throughout my day. I kept with the black denim for my jeans and topped off my look with some luxury á la Saint Laurent boots. I enjoyed my Houston outing with style!

Houston_Fashion_5Overall, I really enjoyed my holidays. I got to see my lovely mom, and I got spend time in a city I hope to live in soon. Until the new year!

Earthy Colors

Last weekend was full of adventure, with a trip with friends to Austin for the Trail of Lights and a night out on Sixth Street that almost led to being kicked out of a bar (bartender’s fault) there wasn’t a dull moment. While the short trip to and from Austin was great, a stroll in the park enjoying a cold, sunny Saturday was a needed highlight.

Even though I’m not the biggest fan of the cold, I do my best to enjoy it. Especially, since I live in south Texas where it’s hot 85 percent of the year. While I tend to stay with darker shades, the sunny day on Saturday called for earthy colors in my wardrobe.

When putting my outfit together, I knew that layers was the way to go. I started with a denim button up and added my mustard colored wool sweater over it, both from DKNY. Since my button up was a lighter denim, I went with a darker denim for my pants.

For footwear, I decided to wear my dark brown Urban Outfitters Chelsea boots, because nothing screams cold weather like a nice pair of boots. To help top off my look, I layered my dark green bomber jacket from Tarjay (Target) to help keep me warm. And keep me warm, the jacket did!

With winter only a few days away, will you still be rocking earthy tones or darker tones?

A Yeezy Boost Look

Standard

yeezy_boost_style_5If you’ve made it past the title, then you know this post is about the Yeezy Boost… the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Beluga 2.0 to be exact. I always planed on buying a pair of Yeezys. However, I would always end up oversleeping or forgetting when they went on sale. Also, some colors just didn’t appeal to me, but these did.

yeezy_boost_beluga_2The Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Beluga 2.0 were must haves, because I knew the neutral gray shade would make it a staple for just about any street style look. I wasn’t expecting to love them as much as I did. They’re stylish and comfortable, it also doesn’t hurt that their limited release makes them and every pair of Yeezys unique.

yeezy_boost_style_1Over the weekend, I got to wear my new shoes for some time out on the town. I paired my Yeezys with a similar shade of DKNY joggers and kept with the neutral tones with a navy DKNY bomber and a green tee from Forever 21.

yeezy_boost_2_1I’m not the biggest fan of Kanye West, but I admire his fashion sense and his collaboration with Adidas on the Yeezys are is just right! If you haven’t grabbed a pair, I highly recommend trying until you do. They will be a great investment to your wardrobe.

Cold Temperatures and Velour Hoodies

Standard

I get excited every year when the cold weather arrives, because it is hot 364 days of the year in south Texas, and I have to enjoy that one day of cold. Okay, I’m slightly exaggerating, but it’s cold for just a few days. As the cold front comes in, I start wear the hoodies, sweaters and jackets that have been put away. I always say I don’t need anymore cold weather clothes, but I always end up buying something new. This year has been no exception.

A week before the Black Friday rush, I found myself doing some window shopping, and came upon my favorite store, DKNY. It had been awhile since I had stepped into the store, and in that first step I saw something I just had to have: a black velour hoodie.

Now to be totally honest, I have been hating on velour anything, but for some reason I fell in love with this velour hoodie at first sight. When I tried it on, it made me want it even more. I guess when your favorite brand does something you hate, you end up loving it.

I got the chance to wear my new velour hoodie over the weekend, and it was the perfect streetwear piece to add to my closet. I paired it with some light grey torn skinny jeans from H&M and my new pair of black and white Old Skool Vans.

The hoodie is great with or without an undershirt. If you plan on wearing an undershirt, try wearing a white or grey longline tee. The color will allow you to balance out the tones, while the length lets your undershirt be seen.

So the morale of this blog post is to never knock a trend without trying it out first!

Streetwear for the cool evening

Standard

As I’ve transitioned into a new job position with a new employer, I’ve sadly been mia from my blog. However, I am back with some new content!

This past weekend a cold front came into town, and I immediately took that a sign to bring out the fall/winter clothes. I mean, I always stock up clothing for the cooler days, but living in south Texas, those days take some time to get here.

To enjoy the weather, my boyfriend and I headed to the park on Sunday evening. It felt so good to enjoy a stroll without sweating from the get go.

While I traditionally like to stick to the earthy colors of fall, I wanted to rock my cool Forever 21 mint-colored anorak. I was obsessed with it when I bought it in the summer. However, it just wasn’t realistic to wear it in the 100 degree weather.

I paired my anorak with my light wash torn skinny jeans from Zara. It only made sense to keep my look on the brighter side of things with lighter colors. That’s why I ended up pairing my anorak with light jeans and my white leather Converse.

Even though my look didn’t have any earthy tones to it, I loved it! It’s always good to break the fashion rules, plus it’s better when you stand out a little.

Well, until next time!✌🏻

Florals for Fall

Standard

Florals_Zara_3

We are a couple days away from fall and you can slowly start to feel the weather getting cooler in south Texas. As the weather starts to change, so does the fashion. My typical fall fashion usually consist of neutral colors, plaid shirts and torn denim. However, there is one trend I’m jumping on and that is florals.

Florals_Zara_4

Florals have become the norm when is comes to spring fashion, but are starting to find themselves in fall fashion, and I am here for it! Last week, I made my monthly stop at Zara for some shopping. I didn’t have anything specific that I was looking for, but then I came upon these torn skinny jeans with roses embroidered on them. At first sight, I fell in love and knew I had to try them on.

Florals_Zara_5

They ended up fitting perfectly, so I bought them! I just loved how the embroidered roses and leaves were as detailed as can be, and how it really complimented the torn denim.

I ended up finding myself wearing my new jeans throughout the entire weekend. These jeans really complimented my style. I enjoy wearing a basic tee, and the embroidered jeans allow my outfit to pop!

Florals_Zara_6

For this look, I paired my jeans with a PacSun heathered gray boxed t-shirt and wrapped a Forever 21 plaid shirt around my waist, which gave my look a 90s vibe. For accessories, I added a necklace to help accent my basic tee, and my Ray-Ban Original Wayfarer sunnies to help keep the sun out of my eyes. I finished off the look with my hi-top white leather Converse.

If you’re a guy who isn’t big on florals or embroidery, I suggest that you take a risk. Especially if you are into basic, the floral embroidery will make your outfit a pop, plus you’ll be on trend!

August Look Book

Standard

Last week, I had the opportunity to feature an editorial collaboration with Canali on my blog. It was a great opportunity with one of the great luxury menswear brands. If you have read it, check it out!

Due to my collaboration, I had to stall my usual monthly look book to this week, so here it is. For the month of August, my looks were all about plaid. With fall just around the corner, my looks were a nod to the cooler weather to come.

Urban_Outfitters_5

For my first look, I was off to an evening at the museum. I needed an outfit that was relaxed, so I went for a layered look. I paired my PacSun heathered beige long line tee with my Urban Outfitters plaid shirt. Since it was hot that day, it only made sense to have my plaid shirt act as a layer, instead of buttoning it up. Next, I added my stylish Zara distressed jeans and my New Balance shoes, which allowed me comfort for walking without sacrificing style, because New Balance are the epitome of style comfort.

Zara_Jeans_Sam_Edelman3

My second look of the month mixed streetwear with loafers. As high fashion slowly becomes intertwined with street fashion, we’ve seen items like dress shoes and distressed denim become paired. For my look, I paired my Forever 21 plaid shirt and Zara distressed denim with some Sam Edelman loafers. I really felt the loafers paired well with my streetwear infused style. I had made an effort to stay away from loafers, but the tan suede is what sold me!

We are a couple of days away from the official day of fall, but I’m slowly beginning to feel the weather changing. I’m excited for the cooler temperatures, and I can’t wait to share my September looks with you!
