In an interesting turn of events, we received a cold front this past weekend and it required a light sweater to get through the day. I mean it was a high of 67 degrees, which probably doesn’t feel that cold if you live in the north, but living in south Texas it’s considered a cold front.
The last time I was privy to this weather, I only figured it was fair to dress the mood. This time around I decided to stick to the time of the season and wear some color. I took out an old favorite of mine, an Urban Outfitters sweatshirt that always remind me of an Arizona tea bottle.
To help even out all the color my sweater was throwing out to the universe, I paired it with some black skinny jeans and my old faithful black converse. The black jeans and shoes allowed my sweater to make the statement while matching the black in my sweater.
I couldn’t have an outfit without a cap, an accessory that has become a signature in most of my recent looks. No, I’m not balding, I’ve just really been digging the way they add a little something to every look. I was originally going to wear a black cap, but figured all the black would be too much. Plus, the tan color complimented the sweater.
The cold front was fun while it lasted, but now it’s back to sunny days… or it is? I guess we’ll see if the weather has another plot twist in the near future. Until then, I’ll be planning outfits for hotter days.
When it comes to fashion, I try not to be a designer label snob. I rather spend a $100 on several shirts, instead of two. However, there is one label I’m willing to spend some good money on and that is DKNY. My love for the New York brand started at the tender age of 20 when I started working at my local DKNY. Six years later, I’m still in love with the brand.
It had been several months since I shopped at the one in San Marcos, but a few weeks I made a stop and fell in love with just about every piece for spring. The brand has really stepped up it’s look for men. Gone are the typical button ups and pants. I saw great outerwear, joggers and fashion sweaters and tees. I had to purchase several pieces, two of which I will share in this post.
Sweaters aren’t the first thing that come to mind for spring, but this white sweater is perfect for the season. The sweater is perforated all around, which let’s your body breathe during the hotter days of spring. Now, this piece isn’t for every man, but if you’re willing to show off some skin I suggest purchasing it. It’s perfect with matching shoes like I did, or perfect for balancing an all black look for a night out.
I paired my DKNY sweater with my DKNY gray joggers. The sales associates suggested that I try them on. I didn’t think much of them, but I really loved the way they looked when I put them on. They get a huge plus for the elastic at the cuff. You don’t have to worry about them falling down when having them up to your calves.
Everyone has that one brand they are willing to spend money on and DKNY happens to be mine. If you haven’t purchased clothes from the New York brand, I suggest making a trip to your nearest store. You won’t regret it!
Growing up in the 90s, I recall logo tees and designer jeans being the “in thing”. That trend has been making it’s comeback for the last few years. I see the old logo tees my older brother was rocking in the ’90s all over the place. From Tommy Hilfiger to Guess, you can’t escape it! And after making my most recent purchase, I’ll admit that I don’t want this trend to ever end!
As I was walking at my local mall, I saw this black Guess oversized logo tee that I needed in my life. When I tried it on, I fell in love. The look and fit was perfect!
This past weekend, I had to take my new shirt for a ride, and I had no regrets about making this purchase. I paired my oversized tee with a new pair of Zara torn skinny jeans, my favorite Chucks and my tan suede cap.
If you’re into oversized tee like me, I recommend adding this throwback into your collection. As a ’90s kid, I’m loving this trend, and you can expect to see me rocking it throughout the season.
After several weekends of cold, rainy weather, this past Sunday the sun finally came out. It was great weather, and I was long overdue for a stroll at the park. I put on my Ray-Ban Wayfarer, and my boyfriend and I hit up the Woodlawn Lake Park for a walk and pics.
I figured it was only fair that my outfit of the day match the casual feels of this sunny and breezy Sunday funday. I’ve never been a fan of horizontal stripes, but this Modern Amusement shirt spoke to me when I found it at PacSun, aka it was on sale. It has surprisingly become a favorite shirt of mine. It’s relaxed fit is perfect for warmer days, and the colored stripes are great for spring.
I furthered my relaxed look with slim torn jeans from Forever 21. Now, I tend to stick to skinny jeans, but this pair of pants look pretty good rolled up and the torned loose fit is essential for the hot weather.
I finished off my look with a comfortable pair of New Balance shoes in my favorite color. There’s no shame in dressing for comfort, and a pair of New Balance shoes makes that decision much easier. It doesn’t hurt that they’re perfect for a walk at the park!
With spring officially here, I’m hoping that these sunny, breezy days are here to stay. What will you be wearing for spring?
Black has been my go-to color of choice for the last few years when it comes to clothing. You’ve probably heard it before but I’l say it again, you can never go wrong with black. It’s perfect for any occasion. If you don’t know whether your going to a dressy or casual get together, wearing something black is a safe bet.
I had tried the camp shirt look before, but I just never cared for the fit. After buying this baby, I realized that the pattern and color makes a huge difference. This camp shirt looked so much better than a white one I had tried on. Now I’ve made a reminder to myself, always try something on several times and in several colors before denying it. I mean the graphic on this camp shirt was just too cool to pass up, and the black was so much more flattering.
I ended up pairing my new shirt with my favorite torn skinny jeans from Zara. I might look back someday and laugh at the fact that my jeans showed off my bare knees, but at the moment they are so streetwear chic!
I finished the look off with my tan New Balance shoes from Urban Outfitters. They are as comfortable as can be and just scream “spring!” I figured they would help balance the prince of darkness look I had going on.
I have a feeling that I’ll be purchasing more camp shirts for spring. Get ready for the new staple in my wardrobe! If you’ve been on the fence with camp shirts like me, try on a couple of different patterns and colors and you might find one that sticks!
Another weekend has come and so has the rain. It seems like the days I want to enjoy keep getting thwarted by gloomy weather. Oh well, I still managed to find time to head out and get the best out of my Saturday. I figured my outfit should fit the emo vibes I was getting from the weather.
After hitting up the local flea market with the love of my life, we headed to one of my favorite parks for some shots before the rain made its returned. To match the gloomy vibes, I decided to stick to darker colors. I kind of looked at the weather as a blessing, cause once spring actually gets here, I will probably sweat buckets when wearing anything dark.
I’ve been obsessed with my distressed olive sweater from Forever 21, I refer to as my “Kanye” sweater. I haven’t been able to wear it much, so I’m glad I got a couple of photos wearing it. If you’re looking for that Yeezy-esque look, I suggest purchasing this sweater or something similar from Forever 21.
I paired my olive sweater with my favorite pair of biker skinny jeans from Zara. As a big fan of Zara, I recommend purchasing a couple of jeans here and there from them. Trust me when I say you’ll be grateful. They may a little pricey ($80ish), but they’ll last and aren’t as expensive when comparing them to designer jeans.
To top of my look, I wore my black cap and signature white leather Converse. I figured the white shoes would help balance the darker tones. Also, I think they photographed better than if I had worn a darker shoe.
Next time you’re wondering what to wear on a gloomy day, just go with the vibe!
