The Texas heat has come full force this summer. Some time out and about during the weekend requires an outfit that won’t have you wanting to ditch plans.
My go-to outfit for a hot summer day is all planned around shorts. There was a time that I just couldn’t get with the shorts program. It came down to two reason: I didn’t like my legs, which at this point I’m not self conscious of and the fact that I could never find shorts in a fit I liked.
Men’s fast fashion has come a long way. I feel the it has more ways to go, but the options are much better. I found these mustard colored woven till shorts at Forever 21. I love the fact they are fitted and have some stretch to them. Those were the two things I was looking for in a pair of shorts. I just can’t get behind wearing shorts that go below the knee or that are loose fitting.
I checked online and these shorts are still available and in different colors. I put these shorts on my recommended list. Be sure to get a pair if you’re looking to add more shorts to your summer wardrobe.
I love fashion. I also love living life. That’s why I am going to start sharing some highlights from my everyday life on my blog. This post is the first of many to come where I will vlog instead of blog. In this video, my lovely boyfriend Tony (@tonywonderful_ on Twitter) and I talk about our experience at the Panic! At the Disco Pray for the Wicked concert at the Toyota Center in Houston. Check it out!
It’s been a hot, hot summer in Texas. The 100+ degree weather can make it hard to dress cute and not want rip off your clothes halfway through your day. Fortunately, I took a few photos before calling it a day on a sunny Saturday.
I’ve been obsessed with stripes for quite sometime. When I came upon a multicolored striped shirt from Urban Outfitters, I had to buy it. The orange, red, yellow and blue stripe combination are perfect for the summer.
I paired my stripes shirt with another current obsession of mine, dad jeans. Yes, I said dad jeans. I’ve stayed loyal to skinny jeans for more than 8 years, but I tried on a pair of dad fit jeans at Urban, and I liked the fit. They aren’t baggy or loose fitting, but the fit isn’t a tight as skinny jeans. I recommend them if you’re looking to change up the fit of your jeans.
I’ve become a gay man obsessed with stripes and dad jeans for the summer. What have been your style obsessions for the summer?
It’s been a hot couple of days in south Texas, and this weekend has been no exception. When it comes to dressing for hotter days, I try to dress comfortably without sacrificing style. The rise of athleisure wear has made it possible!
To keep it cool on a Sunday, I kept it light with colors and fabric. I started my look with a pair of bleached denim joggers from Forever 21. Yes, I said denim, but the fabric is thin. I paired my joggers with a light tan PacSun scallop tee.
To top off my Sunday athleisure wear look, I added my Yeezy 500 blush sneakers. I was hesitant about copping these new Yeezys, but when they arrived at my door, I fell in love with them. I still need more pieces in my wardrobe to wear them with, but I recommend them!
It’s important to start comfortable during a hot day, but remember, you never have to sacrifice fashion!
I recently received the awesome Jones watch from Folsom & Co. in the mail. I had been searching for a nice stainless steel watch in black that would compliment my mostly dark colored clothing for work. This watch hands down was exactly what I was looking for. The watch looks similar to some pricey watches you find at the mall, but is set at an affordable price! This watch is definitely made for both work attire and streetwear attire. I can’t wait to share some future streetwear looks with the watch. Check out Folsom & Co. for watches and accessories that will help elevate your style!✌🏻
This past weekend was much needed. After a long work week, I needed some fun in the sun! While the weather didn’t corporate on Saturday, Sunday was amazing. My mom came into San Antonio for a visit, and we spent the time out and about!
We started our Sunday with brunch at a place, I’d been to for lunch, but had never tried for brunch. The place is Candlelight Coffeehouse. The San Antonio staple did not disappoint for brunch. I got their Candlelight breakfast with a mimosa. Everything on my plate was cooked perfectly, and their prices for brunch were so reasonable. I really recommend it, if you haven’t tried it.
After a fantastic brunch, I had to make my way to Bird Bakery. Owned by Tv Personality and Entrepreneur Elizabeth Chambers, Bird Bakery is amazing and what made it a priority on Sunday was my last chance to get their Call Me By Your Name sugar cookies. The cookies were created specifically for the movie that stars Armie Hammer, husband of Elizabeth. I bought three cookies, which were delicious and so Instagram worthy!
Later that day, I took my mom for a stroll at Japanese Tea Garden. It was pretty packed, but I couldn’t really blame people. It was the first semi sunny day in over a week. The warmer weather finally allowed me to the opportunity to dress casual without a jacket.
My streetwear outfit for Sunday consisted of my staple tee and torn jeans.
I wore a black and white striped tee I purchased at Forever 21. While I’m not a fan of horizontal stripes, the shirt’s cute rose logo on the left of the chest really got me!
I paired my new shirt with some dark blue Zara torn jeans and Vans. I topped off the look with my usual suede snapback.
It was a great ending to my weekend. I got to spend time with my mom and enjoyed exploring my city in great weather. Also, I think my streetwear look was pretty good, simple but good!
I’ve been dying for a weekend away from San Antonio and this past weekend I finally did. My boyfriend and I headed to Austin for a one day vacay that consisted of food, drinks, dancing and enjoying everything else Austin has to offer. That included a trip to Hope Outdoor Gallery also known as Graffiti Park, which I was happy about being that they will be demolishing it soon.
We went just a little overboard with the food that weekend. We stopped at our favorite wing spot, Pluckers on Saturday. Boneless wings and fried pickles were on the table for dinner. It was much needed after a week of watching calories and stressing from work. Later that night we enjoyed a night of dancing and drinks at Barbarella.
The following we woke up for breakfast at Austin Diner and ended our Sunday walking down South Congress, which also involved a stop at El Tacorrido for El Equinox, an horchata with a shot of espresso.
Even though it was an overnight trip. It was much needed, and I had a great time!
