It’s been a HOT couple of days in Texas. Like over 100 degrees hot. To get through these hot days on the weekend, shorts have become my best friend. For a big portion of my 27 years on this earth, I haven’t been a big fan of shorts, even on the hottest days. But that has changed, obviously!
Shorts have become my best friend this summer. I’ve invested in my new friendship by purchasing several shorts from Urban Outfitters, like the ones featured in this blog. I fell in love with this UO geo print woven shorts, that I bought them in two colors. I’ll feature the other colorway at a later date. I paired these pink pair with a Chvrches concert tee and matching Yeezy 700 Boost in the inertia colorway. These shorts keep me cool on a hot summer day!
I get excited every year when the cold weather arrives, because it is hot 364 days of the year in south Texas, and I have to enjoy that one day of cold. Okay, I’m slightly exaggerating, but it’s cold for just a few days. As the cold front comes in, I start wear the hoodies, sweaters and jackets that have been put away. I always say I don’t need anymore cold weather clothes, but I always end up buying something new. This year has been no exception.
A week before the Black Friday rush, I found myself doing some window shopping, and came upon my favorite store, DKNY. It had been awhile since I had stepped into the store, and in that first step I saw something I just had to have: a black velour hoodie.
Now to be totally honest, I have been hating on velour anything, but for some reason I fell in love with this velour hoodie at first sight. When I tried it on, it made me want it even more. I guess when your favorite brand does something you hate, you end up loving it.
I got the chance to wear my new velour hoodie over the weekend, and it was the perfect streetwear piece to add to my closet. I paired it with some light grey torn skinny jeans from H&M and my new pair of black and white Old Skool Vans.
The hoodie is great with or without an undershirt. If you plan on wearing an undershirt, try wearing a white or grey longline tee. The color will allow you to balance out the tones, while the length lets your undershirt be seen.
So the morale of this blog post is to never knock a trend without trying it out first!
In an interesting turn of events, we received a cold front this past weekend and it required a light sweater to get through the day. I mean it was a high of 67 degrees, which probably doesn’t feel that cold if you live in the north, but living in south Texas it’s considered a cold front.
The last time I was privy to this weather, I only figured it was fair to dress the mood. This time around I decided to stick to the time of the season and wear some color. I took out an old favorite of mine, an Urban Outfitters sweatshirt that always remind me of an Arizona tea bottle.
To help even out all the color my sweater was throwing out to the universe, I paired it with some black skinny jeans and my old faithful black converse. The black jeans and shoes allowed my sweater to make the statement while matching the black in my sweater.
I couldn’t have an outfit without a cap, an accessory that has become a signature in most of my recent looks. No, I’m not balding, I’ve just really been digging the way they add a little something to every look. I was originally going to wear a black cap, but figured all the black would be too much. Plus, the tan color complimented the sweater.
The cold front was fun while it lasted, but now it’s back to sunny days… or it is? I guess we’ll see if the weather has another plot twist in the near future. Until then, I’ll be planning outfits for hotter days.
I’ve never been one to wear pink, but as my style has evolved I’ve learned to try new things. This past week, I stopped by my local mall. I was doing the usual window shopping until my eyes came across this pink tropical print bomber at Forever 21. Then I heard it, that little voice say, “treat yo’self!”
I felt a struggle inside myself. I was running low on cash, but it was the only one in the entire men’s section. So I did what any young man would do, I gave myself an IOU. Trust me when I say, I have no regrets!
This bomber jacket is going to be a stable piece in my spring wardrobe. I tried it on with several items and found a few ‘must’ to pair it with.
White to beige will go good with this tropical number. That’s why I choose to pair it with a light beige tee from Pac Sun and my favorite white leather converse. To balance the white, I added some torn skinny jeans.
When it comes to accessories, I recommend sticking to a watch. A tan leather strap would look good, but an Apple Watch doesn’t look bad either.
Once spring is in full swing, you can expect to see me wearing this pink tropical print bomber all the time. Of course, I’ll probably be wearing it with shorts. So if you’re interested in this jacket, I suggest visiting Forever 21 at the mall or online before it’s gone!
This past week I got some much needed leisure time in the wonderful city of Austin. I went down famous South Congress street, ate at Hopdoddy Burger Bar, and for the first time visited Graffiti Park at Castle Hills.
It was a beautiful sunny day in the high 60s, so the first time in a month I was able to wear just a white Gap V-neck. I paired it with some grey torn jeans from H&M, and my new pair of Chelsea boots from Aldo. Towards the evening I added my faux leather Zara bomber jacket to keep warm.
For accessories I wore a necklace from Aldo and a Topman felted wool hat I got from Nordstrom. The highlight of my day is when a gentleman in a band offered to buy my hat from me. It’s always a good thing when someone offers to buy an item from your outfit.
Be sure to check out Nordstrom and get yourself a felted wool hat. I’m sure you’ll receive lots of compliments and offers to buy your hat as well.
Stay classy, mi amigos!
A plain T-shirt is an essential that will never go out of style. However, sometimes we need something that will make us stand out of the crowd. Now usually the alternative has been a graphic tee, but printed tees have recently been growing in popularity.
With spring just around the corner, I challenge all the men that have stayed away from printed tees to buy at least one. Just like any plain tee, the printed shirt can be styled in a variety of ways. Pair them with torn jeans, chinos, or shorts and add on a bomber, leather, or jean jacket, respectively.
The one rule I have about wearing a printed tee is that you don’t want to mix patterns. Let your printed tee do all the talking and go with solid colors when picking shorts, pants, or outerwear.
If you like my houndstooth printed tee you can find similar ones on Topman. They have a variety of printed tees year round ranging from $25 to $40.

Cole Haan Grant Drivers
The weather has been back and forth recently, one day it’s hot and the next it’s cold. In Texas that’s the norm, but let’s not forget that spring is around the corner. With warmer weather coming that means we can ditch the combat boots or Chelsea boots for a pair of moccasins(drivers).
I’ve mentioned in earlier post that before I became a shoe addict, I used the usual low top black and white converse (which I still use). However, recently I have learned the wonders of the moccasin.
The moccasin is the perfect shoe to wear on a sunny 70 degree spring day. They are comfortable, sock free shoes that can be worn with a pair or jeans, chinos, or a suit.
I recommend getting a pair of the Grant driver moccasins from Cole Haan. They are made of good quality leather and will last you a good amount of time. If you’re near an outlet you can get them for 30 to 50 percent off the retail price.
What do you think of the moccasin? Leave a comment below.
Until next time, stay classy mi amigos!
