August Look Book

Last week, I had the opportunity to feature an editorial collaboration with Canali on my blog. It was a great opportunity with one of the great luxury menswear brands. If you have read it, check it out!

Due to my collaboration, I had to stall my usual monthly look book to this week, so here it is. For the month of August, my looks were all about plaid. With fall just around the corner, my looks were a nod to the cooler weather to come.

For my first look, I was off to an evening at the museum. I needed an outfit that was relaxed, so I went for a layered look. I paired my PacSun heathered beige long line tee with my Urban Outfitters plaid shirt. Since it was hot that day, it only made sense to have my plaid shirt act as a layer, instead of buttoning it up. Next, I added my stylish Zara distressed jeans and my New Balance shoes, which allowed me comfort for walking without sacrificing style, because New Balance are the epitome of style comfort.

My second look of the month mixed streetwear with loafers. As high fashion slowly becomes intertwined with street fashion, we’ve seen items like dress shoes and distressed denim become paired. For my look, I paired my Forever 21 plaid shirt and Zara distressed denim with some Sam Edelman loafers. I really felt the loafers paired well with my streetwear infused style. I had made an effort to stay away from loafers, but the tan suede is what sold me!

We are a couple of days away from the official day of fall, but I’m slowly beginning to feel the weather changing. I’m excited for the cooler temperatures, and I can’t wait to share my September looks with you!

Streetwear and Loafers

If it hasn’t been obvious by now, streetwear is my favorite go-to style. I live for a good plaid shirt and torn denim combination. While the latter has recently been a stable of mine, it’s been pretty hot to wear a buttoned up plaid shirt. For the rare cool summers evenings, a plaid shirt is perfect for layering over a thin tee.

A cool Wednesday evening saw me being able to enjoy my favorite red and black plaid shirt from Forever 21. I love the color combination, because it reminds me of fall, a season that’s just a few weeks away. You can say my look is an early welcome to fall.

I paired my plaid shirt with light wash skinny fit torn jeans from Zara. The light color denim and torn jeans complimented the darker tones in my shirt, while still giving my look some summer vibes.

Now when it comes to a summer streetwear look, it’s become standard to pair it with sneakers or even boots. However, dress shoes and loafers have found themselves intertwined into streetwear. That’s why I decided to pair my new Sam Edelman tan suede loafers with my streetwear attire. Tan suede is all the rage when it comes to chelsea boots that I’ve seen paired with streetwear looks. Going the loafers route can be a nicer alternative for the hot days of summer, plus they can provide comfort without sacrificing style.

If you haven’t added loafers or dress shoes to your streetwear look, I suggest giving it a try. The best thing about fashion is mix and matching streetwear and high-fashion, that’s why I love it!
