Dallas Adventures and Fashion – Part 2

Pac Sun Shirt-2

I present another look and adventure from my Dallas trip earlier this month. It’s crazy how time flies, it only seems like last weekend I was enjoying my 4-day getaway. Here’s to hoping I get back there soon!

On our last evening in Dallas, we kept exploring the city and came upon the Robert E. Lee Park (I hate the name BTW), which has a nice little waterfall and creek called Turtle Creek. I was expecting to spot a turtle, but that totally didn’t happen. It was another hot day, so I tried staying cool without sacrificing style, which can be a hard thing to do.

Pac Sun Shirt-1

In GuyLovesFashion style, I stuck to black on a hot day, but  short sleeve shirt and torn jeans combination helped alleviate any horrid sweating I would’ve experienced with a long sleeve and pants sans holes. My featured shot sleeve shirt was something I purchased while on our trip from Pac Sun. The print that consisted of lightning bolts, skeleton with cobwebs and an illuminati-esque eyeball are what attracted me to it. Plus, the lightweight material was perfect to combat against the heat.

I matched my cool new shirt with my favorite pair of black skinny jeans from Zara. I’ve mentioned before, I’m not a big fan of shorts. It’s not because I hate my legs or anything, it’s just that shorts are a little too relaxed for my taste. Thank fashion for torn jeans, because they get me through the heat! For accessories, I went with my signature snapback from H&M and my Apple watch.

Now for shoes, I didn’t have to sacrifice style for comfort, because my shoes met the criteria for both. My pink asos sneakers were comfortable to wear throughout our adventures in Dallas. And lets face it, they look so cool!

Dallas was great to me! The sightseeing, nightlife and food made it a great time! Also, I got an opportunity to show off looks I hadn’t featured before.

Now, here’s to hoping to another trip to Dallas in the middle of fall or winter!

Spring Fashion Vibes

DKNY baseball tee

When you think of spring fashion, many things come to mind: florals, bold colors, short-sleeves and sun glasses. But what about sports? In recent years, streetwear has grown, becoming popular not only on the streets, but in high-fashion and has gained some inspiration from sports.

DKNY baseball tee

My featured piece is a DKNY S/S 2015 baseball tee that was from the last S/S collection under the creative direction of Donna Karan. I’ve mentioned my love for the DKNY brand, and this is still one of my favorite pieces that I own from the legendary brand. It’s a perfect example of the sport infused streetwear we’ve come to know and love. In 2017, sport infused streetwear is still going strong. We see it in spring 2017 designer collections like Hilfiger Edition (rugby polos) and Calvin Klein Collection (football jerseys) to brands like Forever 21.

DKNY baseball tee

For my sport infused look, I paired my baseball tee and matching cap with some a streetwear must, torn skinny jeans from Zara. I went with black to match my color theme and layered my baseball tee on top of a white Gap v-neck to compliment the black, while matching the white in my converse.

If you haven’t added a sport infused piece to your spring wardrobe, I suggest giving it a try. Trust me when I say, you’ll be giving off those spring fashion vibes!

Denim on Denim

Standard

Denim will never go out of style. It’s been an essential in American wardrobe for decades. Once a casual staple, it has transcended across all levels of fashion. From streetwear to high-fashion, you will find denim just about anywhere, including my wardrobe.

As my personal style has become more streetwear inspired, I have embraced denim in my everyday looks. There was a time were I strayed away from it and stuck to chinos and khakis, but I have obviously snapped out of that. So much so that I now dare to wear denim on denim!

DKNY denim

Now with the hotter days of spring and summer among us, it can be hard to imagine wearing denim jeans and shirts. Trust me when I say I reach for my thinnest tee and pray that I don’t sweat through it. However, there are times when a tee might not be the best thing to wear for the occasion.

My featured look is one way to rock that denim on denim look for spring. My denim button up is one of the spring pieces from DKNY that I needed in my wardrobe. To help balance style and comfort, I rolled up my sleeves so that my arms could breathe. Another way to wear this look would be over your favorite tee. My denim shirt only cost about $45, but you can find a similar shirt for a lower price at H&M.

DKNY men denim

Instead of going with a different shade of blue for my denim jeans, I went with a pair of rolled up, bleached DKNY jeans I purchased a few years ago. Now a darker shade of blue would’ve been acceptable, but I wanted my shirt to stand out. Just be sure your denim on denim isn’t too matchy, or you’ll end up looking like Britney and Justin at the 2001 American Music Awards.

I did however end up adding some more blue with my Cole Haan canvas shoes. They are a pair I don’t normally wear, because they are from my preppy era, but they went with the outfit.

Rayban Glasses

I finished off my look with a staple accessory and a sunny accessory. My tan suede cap was a must, not only because it’s a signature of mine, but the color complimented the look. And on the sunny day I experienced this past weekend, I needed my Ray Ban Original Wayfarers to block out the rays.

If you’re wanting to try the denim on denim look for spring, consider something similar to my look. Just don’t forget to wear different shades or colors of denim, so that the denim won’t be overbearing!
