June started off on a busy note, but I was able to squeeze in some vacation time this past weekend. I hadn’t been to Dallas in over 8 years, so that was the destination for our 4-day getaway.
The first thing that came to mind was “What do I pack?” After looking at the hot forecast, I knew that short-sleeve shirts were probably the best option. Especially, when my boyfriend and I planned to walk around and see Dallas.
One of our first Dallas adventures was a stop at the Klyde Warren Park. It was such an amazing experience. The park is surrounded by the large buildings that help create the Dallas skyline. It was great seeing all types of people enjoying their Sunday afternoon with family and friends.
To help enjoy the sunny day comfortably, I wore one of my newest Pac Sun short sleeve camp shirts. The funky print and pink color made it a must-have for my wardrobe. And what better time, then to wear it on hot Dallas day.
I paired my shirt with some Zara light blue torn skinny jeans and my new white hi-tops Converse. The two pairs fit perfectly with my shirt, giving my outfit a summer ready look. To top of my look, I added my signature snapback.
Overall, I enjoyed my time at Klyde Warren Park. The people, cityscape and food trucks made it a wonderful experience.
I will be sharing another Dallas look next week. Stay tuned!
May was all about trying to not to sweat in heat. I’m not big on wearing shorts, so I tried to stick to light colors, rolling up my sleeves and jeans and trying not to layer.
For the first look of the month, I decided to wear a light denim shirt with the sleeves rolled and acid washed jeans. The theme was denim on denim with a twist. I felt that two shades of blue denim is the norm, so I went with the acid wash, which is perfect for the weather of spring/summer. My Cole Haan canvas shoes are a stable for my hot weather looks.
With baseball season in full swing, I think my second look was appropriate. As athletic wear has slowly integrated itself into fashion, I figured I would show an example of this. My DKNY baseball shirt is from two spring season ago, but if you’re aware of the trends, sportswear has really influenced streetwear and high-fashion.
My final look for the month featured a capsule collection piece from Guess. This shirt is perfect to wear during the heat, because it’s white and oversized. I find it hard to wear anything tight, especially in hot weather. Always give your body room to breathe, or your shirt might end up soaked.
The unofficially start of summer has already passed, and June is here. I look forward to presenting you my looks for the month!
Two summers ago, a last minute internship opportunity led me to San Antonio, a place I still call home. I remember summer 2015 was all about my internship, summer classes, housewives marathons and wondering what the future would bring. That summer I also got to reconnect with friends I hadn’t seen in awhile.
My friend Tehua, who I met my freshman year of college at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi took these photos that summer. I hadn’t seen her for over 4 years, and we made plans to meet and catch up. Our get-together also turned into a photo session. Her passion for photography and my passion for fashion came together for this throwback look!
When you think of spring fashion, many things come to mind: florals, bold colors, short-sleeves and sun glasses. But what about sports? In recent years, streetwear has grown, becoming popular not only on the streets, but in high-fashion and has gained some inspiration from sports.
My featured piece is a DKNY S/S 2015 baseball tee that was from the last S/S collection under the creative direction of Donna Karan. I’ve mentioned my love for the DKNY brand, and this is still one of my favorite pieces that I own from the legendary brand. It’s a perfect example of the sport infused streetwear we’ve come to know and love. In 2017, sport infused streetwear is still going strong. We see it in spring 2017 designer collections like Hilfiger Edition (rugby polos) and Calvin Klein Collection (football jerseys) to brands like Forever 21.
For my sport infused look, I paired my baseball tee and matching cap with some a streetwear must, torn skinny jeans from Zara. I went with black to match my color theme and layered my baseball tee on top of a white Gap v-neck to compliment the black, while matching the white in my converse.
If you haven’t added a sport infused piece to your spring wardrobe, I suggest giving it a try. Trust me when I say, you’ll be giving off those spring fashion vibes!
I mentioned in an earlier entry that I was loving the 90s logo tees, a look that is making a revival. I also mentioned that it would be a look that I would continue to rock throughout the spring/summer season. So it’s no surprise that I would feature the logo tee, yet again.
A stop at my local PacSun ended in the purchase of another Guess original logo tee from their capsule collection. The retro script logo is the epitome of the 90s, something that obviously caught my attention. I also knew the fact that it was white would make it perfect for the hot days to come.
That turned out to be true, because I ended up wearing it on a hot and humid Saturday. I paired my oversized white tee with my matching white converses and balanced out the white with my moto black skinny jeans from Zara, black cap and a denim jacket.
If you haven’t started adding these 90s throwback logo tees to your wardrobe, you better get to it! Find the Guess capsule collection at Guess, PacSun or Urban Outfitters.
From capsule collection tees to Arizona tea bottle inspired sweatshirts, my April looks were pretty interesting! I started off with spring inspired looks and ended with a winter inspired look.
My ’90s black Guess oversized logo tee was my favorite piece for April. I had long strayed away from logo tees, but capsule collections just do it right. It might be that logo tees were huge in the ’90s and inspired looks from the decade are spot on. This piece is still available at Guess stores, and I still recommend it!
My DKNY perforated white sweater was a fashion risk that I’m happy I took. I love DKNY and they’ve truly stepped up their game in the streetwear department. I’ve made several other purchases since featuring the sweater, and I look forward to featuring them.
I finished out my April looks with a sweatshirt that tends to only make an appearance during the winter. However, a cold front came out of nowhere, and changed my planned outfit. Unlike the last time it was cold, I picked bright colors over dark.
As April comes to a close, I look forward to May and can’t wait share the looks I have in store.
In an interesting turn of events, we received a cold front this past weekend and it required a light sweater to get through the day. I mean it was a high of 67 degrees, which probably doesn’t feel that cold if you live in the north, but living in south Texas it’s considered a cold front.
The last time I was privy to this weather, I only figured it was fair to dress the mood. This time around I decided to stick to the time of the season and wear some color. I took out an old favorite of mine, an Urban Outfitters sweatshirt that always remind me of an Arizona tea bottle.
To help even out all the color my sweater was throwing out to the universe, I paired it with some black skinny jeans and my old faithful black converse. The black jeans and shoes allowed my sweater to make the statement while matching the black in my sweater.
I couldn’t have an outfit without a cap, an accessory that has become a signature in most of my recent looks. No, I’m not balding, I’ve just really been digging the way they add a little something to every look. I was originally going to wear a black cap, but figured all the black would be too much. Plus, the tan color complimented the sweater.
The cold front was fun while it lasted, but now it’s back to sunny days… or it is? I guess we’ll see if the weather has another plot twist in the near future. Until then, I’ll be planning outfits for hotter days.
