Big Hats and Short Sleeves

When it comes to stepping out, I always prefer to wear a button down shirt. The summer days have been scorching hot in San Antonio, so I’ve traded in my long sleeves for short sleeves.

I tend to gravitate towards printed button downs, because they add personality to any outfit. Trust me when I say, you’ll get more compliments when you opt for a shirt that begs to be noticed.

For this look, I paired my Topman cloud printed shirt with my barely worn Topman puritan hat. On a sunny day, a hat will keep the sun out of your face. Plus, it adds even more of a wow factor to your outfit. I mentioned in a previous post that a man offered to buy my hat from me. That didn’t happen to me this time, but remember that hats will attract compliments or money. It’s always a good thing when someone offers to buy an item from your outfit.

I finished off the look with some gray torn jeans from H&M, a necklace from Aldo, and my favorite pair of Converse.

I’ll be rocking big hats and short sleeves for the remainder of the summer. Will you be doing the same?

Stay classy, mi amigos!

Casual Friday

IMG_6931 (1)

Sometimes it doesn’t take much to look nice. Casual can always look good, it’s all about putting the right pieces together.

A graphic tee never goes out of style, and recently when I look for graphics I try to purchase them from smaller merchants. The reason being is that more than likely I won’t bump into someone with the same shirt. The “Twiggy Smalls” (a combination of supermodel Twiggy and Biggie Smalls) shirt I’m wearing is from Clone NYC, an online retailer based out of New York City.

I paired it with my current favorite denim from H&M. Since high school I’ve loved ripped jeans. I think a couple of times I got in trouble for my jeans being torn from behind. What I like about this pair of jeans is that they bring torn and skinny together. They don’t feel tight and they have stretch to them.

After that I put on my favorite pair of converse, which have been an important part of my wardrobe since middle school. What I love about converse is that they can be torn or dirty, but they still look good.

To top off my casual look I added an American Eagle denim jacket and a necklace from Aldo. Accessories and outerwear will always take your casual look to the next level.

Hopefully my tips and look help you put together something similar. Be sure to check out the links I provided! Be sure to leave a comment below, and tell me what you think about my look.

Spring Into The Workplace

For the working man that’s in the office 9 to 5, there isn’t a big change in the wardrobe for Spring. Sure you lose the long pea coat, gloves, and scarf, but you still have to look presentable. Well here are some tips on how to Spring into the workplace in style.

Spring means warmer days, so switch the nice tailored dress shirt for a sports shirt. A sports shirt comes in a variety of fabrics: linen, chambray, oxford, or denim. The plus side on wearing one of these is that they aren’t perfectly tailored to your body, so you won’t feel uncomfortable in the heat. DKNY offers sports shirts in a variety of fabric and prints for their Spring collection.

Instead of topping off your sports shirt with a blazer, go with a lightweight linen sweater. Banana Republic has a variety of sweaters that can help dress up your sports shirt.

Most of us can’t get away with using shorts in the workplace, so what’s an alternative to dress pants? One word, chinos! Chinos are lightweight and made of twill fabric that are perfect for the warmer days. Topman offers a variety of colors, giving you more options for your wardrobe.

Finally, when it comes to the oxfords, monks, or cap toes you used for Fall and Winter they can usually transition into your Spring wardrobe. Instead of pairing them with long dress socks, lose them, roll up your chinos, and show some ankle.

If you haven’t added any Spring-worthy pieces to your wardrobe, be sure to check out the links I provided. Remember, it’s okay to add prints and patterns to your wardrobe, it is Spring after all.

DKNY Goes To The Ball Game

From season to season DKNY has done a great job of combining street wear and formalwear. This Spring 2015, we see the DKNY men collection combine baseball button up shirts with suits and slacks. After looking at pictures of the collection’s London premiere last year, I knew that I had to buy one of the baseball shirts.

DKNY Baseball Shirt-$95

I own several pieces from DKNY, but this has to be my favorite piece. The one thing I like about this piece is that you can dress it up or dress it down. Pair it with your favorite denim and Chucks, like I did, or wear a nice pair of chinos and add a blazer over it.

This is a standout piece in the Spring collection, so I suggest visiting DKNY and buying one before they are gone.

Tell me what you think about the DKNY baseball shirt and the rest of the DKNY men SS15 collection in the comments below.

Graffiti Park

This past week I got some much needed leisure time in the wonderful city of Austin. I went down famous South Congress street, ate at Hopdoddy Burger Bar, and for the first time visited Graffiti Park at Castle Hills.

It was a beautiful sunny day in the high 60s, so the first time in a month I was able to wear just a white Gap V-neck. I paired it with some grey torn jeans from H&M, and my new pair of Chelsea boots from Aldo. Towards the evening I added my faux leather Zara bomber jacket to keep warm.

For accessories I wore a necklace from Aldo and a Topman felted wool hat I got from Nordstrom. The highlight of my day is when a gentleman in a band offered to buy my hat from me. It’s always a good thing when someone offers to buy an item from your outfit.

Be sure to check out Nordstrom and get yourself a felted wool hat. I’m sure you’ll receive lots of compliments and offers to buy your hat as well.

A plain T-shirt is an essential that will never go out of style. However, sometimes we need something that will make us stand out of the crowd. Now usually the alternative has been a graphic tee, but printed tees have recently been growing in popularity.

With spring just around the corner, I challenge all the men that have stayed away from printed tees to buy at least one. Just like any plain tee, the printed shirt can be styled in a variety of ways. Pair them with torn jeans, chinos, or shorts and add on a bomber, leather, or jean jacket, respectively.

The one rule I have about wearing a printed tee is that you don’t want to mix patterns. Let your printed tee do all the talking and go with solid colors when picking shorts, pants, or outerwear.

If you like my houndstooth printed tee you can find similar ones on Topman. They have a variety of printed tees year round ranging from $25 to $40.

Moccasin Monday

Cole Haan Grant Drivers

The weather has been back and forth recently, one day it’s hot and the next it’s cold. In Texas that’s the norm, but let’s not forget that spring is around the corner. With warmer weather coming that means we can ditch the combat boots or Chelsea boots for a pair of moccasins(drivers).

I’ve mentioned in earlier post that before I became a shoe addict, I  used the usual low top black and white converse (which I still use). However, recently I have learned the wonders of the moccasin.

The moccasin is the perfect shoe to wear on a sunny 70 degree spring day. They are comfortable, sock free shoes that can be worn with a pair or jeans, chinos, or a suit.

I recommend getting a pair of the Grant driver moccasins from Cole Haan. They are made of good quality leather and will last you a good amount of time. If you’re near an outlet you can get them for 30 to 50 percent off the retail price.

What do you think of the moccasin? Leave a comment below.

Until next time, stay classy mi amigos!
